sevenswells: (I just wanna tell stories)
I'm not a big fan of Derek Kirk Kim's work ("sensitive" style, girl readers love it, boring stories about guys with first world problems who don't get laid very often and who bear a strange resemblance to the author), but it's funny to have a show (well, a webseries) about comics authors made by someone "from the inside". It's not sensational (it has in fact a LOT of indie gimmicks that you're allowed to consider caricatural and mock in 2011: spineless main character, sassy roommate, random apparition of a meaningful spirit animal, vegetarian hipster love interest, blah blah blah), but it's okay, and at least it's done with a good deal of seriousness (the photography and directing are pretty decent). My favourite character so far is Tony, the main character's roommate (doesn't matter if he's a cliché of a sassy roommate, I still like him): first because he wears a Batman t-shirt the first time we see him, plus he's an Alan Moore fan. Also I think he's kind of sexy. (Tony/Mark FTW, and it's almost canon, haaaahaha)
