Also, HAI THAR, Rome fandom, long time no see. I did watch it (part of it at least--real life interfered at the beginning of season 2, I think). I thought it was such bollocks that it was cancelled for being so costly. It was so popular, and the DVD boxsets were so expensive, and they still seemed to sell really well all the same... the bigwigs don't seriously mean they weren't turning a profit. [/rant]
I've never read Rome fic before, though (I suppose the show was so well-served of kinks I never thought to go look for them online? :P ), so you'll be popping that particular cherry of mine. :D
