what_alchemy's post on tumblr about ship-bashing in the fandom, READ IT, IT'S IMPORTANT:
http://what-alchemy.tumblr.com/post/25233640086/sherlock-holmes-fandom-stop-arguing
Can I just say: GOD, THANK YOU and YES, THIS!
Also, a word to my fellow fangirls: you don't have to say "I ship them but I know they aren't like that in canon".
You don't have to make excuses. You can just stop at "I ship them." You don't know how they are in canon, nobody does, and the people who tell you otherwise are fools. Thank you for your attention.

Date: 2012-06-17 08:51 am (UTC)It's surprising how many people are still railing and ranting against H/W, though, of all ships. Academic study of the homoerotism in the Doyle stories has existed for decades — it's like protesting you can't read homoerotism in Shakespeare. (Besides, it's a more than a little offensive when some of these people claim that the sacred friendship needs to be protected from the dirty, dirty homosexual subtext. Really. It doesn't.)
