No shit, Sherlock!
Feb. 5th, 2010 08:21 pmSo now Warner gets all uncomfortable about Holmes and Watson's relationship...? And Robert Downey Jr has to do "innuendos" about it, as if it wasn't RIGHT IN THE FACE of everybody who knows even remotely the universe of Sherlock Holmes?
Oh, come ooooon!
You say you didn't do it on PURPOSE? Srsly?
That movie was practically FOOD for SLASH forced into our COLLECTIVE YAOIST MIND!
I saw it today, loooooved it, and I'm writing fic (not that it needs any, the fic was practically on screen), as soon as I learn how to breathe normally again.
Excerpt from the article above :
"Robert may have planted a seed with some moviegoers (especially those uncomfortable with homosexuality) who will now overanalyze every look, touch, and word between the two characters. Will they squirm in their seats every time Sherlock calls his sidekick "my dear Watson?""
Oh, Becky Broderick from "yourtango.com"...
... you have NO idea. :D
May I add, in France journalists know how to ask all the important questions : Guy Ritchie about Sherlock Holmes being gay, on Canal + (youtube link)
(j'ai un peu plus de respect pour ce cruchon d'Ariane Bidule, maintenant, dis-donc :DDD )

Date: 2010-02-07 05:12 pm (UTC)*ears perk up* OH HAI THAR!
I've always been one of the purist "They were just best friends!" people (simply because I balk at the idea that a deep friendship is somehow NOT ENOUGH and if you REALLY, REALLY CARE about someone, then deep down you must want to shag them), and the film singlehandedly showed me the righteousness of slashing them together. That's how openly slashy it was.

Date: 2010-02-12 08:47 am (UTC)Okay, and House M.D. also did a great job at convincing me to look at it closer, too.
But I'm not even a Sherlock Holmes fan to begin with, I prefer Poirot - well, and here again, I don't really want to know if there's something between Hastings and him; Poirot is kind of asexual to me, I can't imagine him having sex with anybody, except maybe his own brain, of which he seems extremely fond.

Right! Right! *hug of doom* Oh yes, my friend, I'm sooooo so happy you're with me on this! XDDD

Date: 2010-02-17 12:37 am (UTC)HotLaw's Watson was just so chaaaarming. That's what got to me. Their looks don't hurt either, but the banter, and the timing, and the slashyness of it all... Mmm.Also, HIGH FIVE on the Poirot front. I love Poirot. I love Agatha Christie. Haters to the left. I went to see The Mousetrap the other day for the time and it was glorious. Also, definitely. Poirot/Little Grey Cells=OTP. I think the Granada series did a good job of hinting at Poirot having had a little bit of a crush on someone at some point, and having got completely over it because he's Poirot. And poor Hastings would have the vapours if he even conceived of the idea of Poirot thinking anything untoward for him.
Mmm, Poirot. Need to go back and rewatch some eps. :D
