sevenswells: (Sherlock and security blanket WIN)

Or maybe more like a care package. Just a few random considerations, some fic recs, fanvids... the usual fangirl raving, which hereby justifies a shiny new "sherlock holmes" tag, say hi.

(BTW, next post will be all about London, which is a truly fantastic city; whereas the second amuse-bouche for The Art of Love and Cooking will be up next week when I return to Paris.)

I find funny how I simply don't care about the investigations in any Sherlock verse, which may be why Sherlock Holmes in general didn't interest me at all before I saw the yummy slash in it. It's not that I don't like the mystery in itself. Agatha Christie's works, for example, are definitely not the same: that woman was completely nuts, in an admirable, mad scientist sort of way. I mean, what kind of seriously twisted brain did she have, that made her come up with stories like a guy getting stabbed through the eye when he's hiding in a chest to observe people, or Ten Little Niggers, which is really one of my favourites ever? I don't care about the m/m slash at all with Christie; Poirot and Hastings' interaction is a bunch of fun, but I don't really see it going anywhere romantic and, that's the most amazing part as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't care for it.
On the other hand, I consider Holmes and Watson pretty much canon, by now. My favorite interpretations of their relationship are the also the most recent ones: House and Wilson, RDJ!Holmes and Judsie!Watson, and, of course, Benny!Sherlock and Martin!John. I like the psychological profile Holmes's character has developped in the recent years: childish at times (House, Benny!Sherlock and RDJ!Holmes), sadistic (House and Benny!Sherlock), pitiful (RDJ!Holmes) and with a pronounced dark side (and I think Benny!Sherlock might be the darkest of them all, actually, which I find absolutely thrilling).
I like how in recent stuff it seems that Holmes has no other friend than Watson and clings to him like a drowning man -- to me, there is a neediness in today's Holmes that other interpretations didn't particularly insist on. Also, in the later versions, it seems to me that Watson comes out as the "strongest" of the two. However, what delighted me in BBC's version is that Watson somehow appears twisted too - he's not traumatized by the war, he misses it, as Mycroft (kyaaaaaa MYCROFT!!! Sorry fangirl moment there) points out, and that's what he seeks in his relationship with Sherlock. Up until now, it looked like Watson was rather a wholesome character, with simple needs and a few quirks (gambler, skirt chaser), nothing that would particularly require the help of a psychiatrist; he was the physical side to counterbalance Holmes's intellect. But where BBC's adaptation scored a million points with me is that Martin!John has to be the darkest Watson to date, and I thoroughly approve of it: he looks tired and depressed, and he only seems to come alive when Holmes (who's completely deranged) is with him - which heightens the MOE factor to the max, of course.
So, yeah, the cases? I don't dig them that much. When people told me that the investigation per se in the '09 movie was no good, I honestly wondered what they were talking about, and why they were focusing on such a piffle. Who cares about how you find murderers and stupid stolen jewelry when you are in the land of honey and slash, seriously?

So! Fic recs; it's not much, but I liked this one a lot (still perusing through the bottomless contents of the comms as I'm writing this):

http://community.livejournal.com/sherlockbbc/225488.html (First part, PG-13)
http://community.livejournal.com/sherlockbbc/270245.html (Second part, NC-17)

I thought John and Sherlock were very IC and I luuuurved the power play between them (not to mention the ~*riding crop*~ -- maximum bonus points for that delicious addition to the mix).
I'm actually drawing sketches to illustrate this fic (thanks [livejournal.com profile] ayuzak for implanting such time-wasting ideas in my head XD) , I'll post them as soon as I come back to Paris too (I don't have a scanner here ^^;;)

Now the fanvids; this one is perfection:

And I found this one somehow very fitting and weirdly romantic:

And yet another gem:

Finally, for those of you who, like me, can't get enough of Benedict Cumberbatch(<333)'s voice porn, here's five hours of it:

Oh glad to see Sherlock fans on my Flist!!!:D

Personally I've always preferred Sherlock to Poirot. But over the years Poirot got a space in my heart. And then comes BBC fantastic show! Cumberbatch is the best Sherlock I've see, at least is the sherlock I've always imagined!:D

and I could not agree with you more about John, this john is serious, it's a bit darker and he misses the war , }I think that's deep. And he sees on Sherlock the battle field again as the AWESOME Mycroft pointed out!:D

The great game showed to us that no only Sherlock has a heart, but showed that John is very important to him.

ahah Cumberbatch's voice porn, that made me laugh, this man voice is very delicious isn't it?! oh and those legs!*__*

this man voice is very delicious isn't it?!

Oh God yes. I think I can have an aural orgasm just by listening to it.

oh and those legs!*__*

Yes. I sure hope we'll see more of them in the near future. As in, NEKKID, plz, kthxbai.

(and, mmmh, more of his feet, too, but that's just me and my own private perversion)

May I ask what are your expectations for next season? Also, did you like Moriarty? A lot of people didn't, but I personally think he was brilliant.

Sherlock love John!!!!!! there I said it!!! :D
On episode two there's the best scene:

Sherlock: "I need to get some air, we're going out tonight."
John: "Actually, I've uh, got a date."
Sherlock: "What?"
John: "It's where two people who like each other go out and have fun."
Sherlock: "That's what I was suggesting."

I love this scene because Sherlock likes to be with Watson, all the time! AWWWWW I love those two together so much!<3

I love when Cumberbatch lower his voice, almost whispering...damn you man!!!D:

I loved this Moriaty actually, he's over the top, like a nice villain has to be, he's really evil, so evil he looks charming and can convince you that he's a nice guy. That's being really bad in my opinion!
when he screamed, wow that was pure evil!! very awesome!:D
