sevenswells: (London Sherlock John)

(BTW, haven't seen the latest Glee yet, I'll bore the hell out of you let you know if I found it any good)

I've just finished watching season 1 of The Office (British version, of course) and I used to be more obsessed with Benny, but now my love for the sexy adorableness that is Martin Freeman is just as strong as my crazy stan obsession for Cumberbatch. Martin's incredibly fucking cute, it's almost too much to bear. I know, I know, it took me way too much time to realize that absolute trufax, don't shout at me like that. Of course I already loved him as John H. Watson, why do you think I'm head over heels for this pairing, it's not just because of Benny, it's because both of them are awesome -- but let's just say that, watching Sherlock, I've been blinded by my crush for Benny first, and with him removed of the equation, I could fully appreciate Martin's adorable sexiness at last.
Now I understand completely the fangirls who say that they want to pinch his cheeks and then shag him senseless (or muss his hair and then blow him). Boy do I understand.

Just. Look at him. No, I mean, look, really look. What the hell. That must be the most stupid haircut I've ever seen and he manages to make this look cute beyond words. And fuckable. What is up with that? °_____°

Martin aside, I really loved that first season; that show's really well written and I can't WAIT to watch season 2. British TV shows FTW. I also need to read Sherlock/The Office crossovers now. Recs, anyone?

P.S.: On a side note, the hopeless RPSlasher in me really loves that picture:

Yes, right, Martin. Place your hand even higher up Benny's thigh, why don't you. God. British people. I love you so much, you and your ambiguous gheiness. <3

I watched the hell out of the Brit version of The Office when it was airing on Adult Swim. At first it was because I loved the US version and wanted to see the original and then it was because of Martin. ♥ Please tell me you've seen him in Hitchhiker's.

Benny looks so drunk there. I love it.

Martiiiiiiin!!! <3 Yes, The Office's brilliant, isn't it. I'm very curious about the US version, I think 'll give it a go once I've finished season 2 of the British one.

I've seen Hitchhiker's a long time ago, and I didn't even know him at the time, let alone fangirl him like mad. I need to see it again; I wanna see more versions of that little pout he does when his character is supposed to be angry and slightly sulking. Awwwww.

Benny looks so drunk there. I love it.

I can't get over that relaxed, proprietary hand with fingers on the inside of Benny's thigh.
I bet Benny and Olivia took Martin home that night XD
Olivia's a very, very lucky girl. *sigh*

The US version isn't filled with as much Brit-awkwardness at times. Steve Carrell is still incredibly inappropriate and awkward but you actually feel uncomfortable because of Ricky Gervais sometimes. I mean that in the best way possible. lol Jim Halpert is Tim's US counterpart and he's played by the adorable John Krasinski.

The woman who plays Pam (the US equivalent of Dawn) is also cute as a button and I love her. They're so cute together.

I fangirl because of Hitchhiker's. I saw him in that and thought he was brilliant and adorable.

Benny gets very close to some of his costars, doesn't he? He and Tom Hardy are really close, if memory serves.

Mm...Tom Hardy. :3

I know exactly what you mean about Ricky Gervais, I swear I almost DIED from second-hand embarrassment watching first season, and it hurt too. To me, only British people can manage to create characters like that, who are perfectly horrible and embarrassing, but also touching and oh-so human sometimes. It's brilliance, sheer brilliance.

Re: Hitchhiker's: Well at the time I went to see Hitchhiker's, I was with a nerd friend who was a huge fan of the books, and she just kept ranting on and on during the whole film about how it betrayed the very essence of the books and such, so I must say I don't have very fond memories of that particular viewing. Definitely need a re-watch.

Re: Tom and Benny: oh yes. The Bismarck anecdote. <3 British people and their inherent gheiness I tell you.

I actually know several people who just can't watch the British version of The Office because of the secondhand embarrassment it causes them. I just wince, like, a lot when I watch. lol

I looooooove the books but I was automatically a little in love with the movie because Alan Rickman voiced Marvin. I can separate the books and movie because I know they were only going to make the one movie and had to pull some things from the other books so it would make sense.

Oh my Christ. The Bismarck anecdote is just lovely. Tom's enthusiasm + Benny's quiet sense of humor and the fact that he could not stop smiling at his hands = ♥. I didn't understand the full meaning behind the phrase: "He's not gay, he's just British." until I started paying attention to some Brit men in fandom when I was younger.

Dude, I've been to London, I swear they're ALL like that; they kill my gaydar dead. Here, I wrote a small article about it during my vacations in England: http://sevenswells.livejournal.com/40962.html#cutid1

Trufax. º______º

I just read it and I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. My friend went to uni in London for a semester and she said she couldn't believe the amount of men there that broke her gaydar.

Theory about the tiny skirts: the mod style movement was huge in Britain and one of the defining pieces of fashion for it was these micro-mini skirts. They kind of stuck over there, I suppose.

Americans are even worse about wine drinking. We also have a lot of cheap wine here. I can't find anything that I like because it's all so sour and bleh. Actually, a lot of alcoholics here (particularly female ones) drink massive amounts of wine as opposed to harder liquors like vodka, tequila, or rum.

DAHHHHH <3 <3
I'm so in love with him as well, but I actually became interested in him way way back when he played a role in a british film from '05 or '06
I'm sure you've heard of it, as so many huge british actors are in it like Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman, Emma Thomspon, Kiera Knightly and so so many others. It's called "Love Actually," and Martin plays the most adorable role in it that anyone could ever imagine. The women he ends up with is equally adorable and you spend the entire film squeeing over how bloody adorable the whole thing is. I didn't know who he was at the time, but my friends and I all fell in love with him. I haven't seen 'Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" yet, but when Sherlock came out I immdiately recognized him and the squeeing began once more. Definitely check out 'love actually.' It's hilarious, completely heart-warming and so feel-good it will make your insides melt.
