It started out as the most stupid and ridiculous ideas of all time and now it seems... kind of cool, actually.

Tintin in 3D motion capture
.

I like Tintin, but I'm not exactly the biggest fan. I loathe motion capture, and nothing that came out of that media has really convinced me to this day.

But.

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson as producers, okay, we all knew that. Which was already kind of... big, like, something out of a parallel universe, one of those "what ifs" out of the worst nerd's wet dreams.

And now shit just got real.

Get this: screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright.

With Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Andy Serkis, and Gad Elmaleh (wait, what? WTF is Gad Elmaleh doing here??).

Directed by Steven Spielberg.

...WHAT. THE. FUCK. IS THIS MOVIE???

I'm honestly torn between "OMFGWTFBBQAWESOMESAUCE" and "but it's *still* one of the WORST IDEAS OF ALL TIME! LEAVE THAT SHIT ALONE YOU WILL DESTROY THE FABRIC OF REALITY AND GOOD TASTE FOREVER!!!"

I feel like the world as we know it is about to end. °____°

Ah, I have no idea who Joe Cornish is, that's why I didn't mention him. Is he a good writer?

But yeah, this project breaks my brain. Although at first I was like NO WAY I'M GOING TO SEE THIS and now it definitely has my attention.

he wrote and directed 'Attack the Block' which has just come out in the UK - I haven't seen it yet, but my sister liked it. *not much help...*

i know him through the tv and radio stuff he has done - i don't know how much of the bbc stuff you can get when you're outside of the country - a ton of his tv stuff is on 4 on demand http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-adam-and-joe-show/4od

basically he's a bit of a cult radio person and he's part of the whole edgar wright thing (EW exec produced attack the block).

And now i'm just blathering. if you can listen to the radio show, i reccomend it, because it's good fun.

so there you go.

I have to confess, when I first heard about this project, it was basically "Steven Spielberg is doing Tintin. In motion capture" and I had my reservations (along the lines of "Meh, do you really need motion capture for Tintin?" and "Meh, Spielberg, I love you, but your latest films haven't exactly been masterpieces, do you mind dispensing with the ~experimental~ stuff until you're back in top shape?".

Then more news started coming out about the process, namely lots of info from Spielberg/Jackson about their reasons for motion capture, etc. (I hope their PR team is being paid well, because damn, are they ever doing a good job of selling this picture. To me, at least.), and then the screenwriting credits, then the cast, and I have to say... I'm converted. I can't wait to see what'll come out of this mix. On the downside, if it ends up being shit, it'll be one of the biggest disappointments of my (cinematic) life.

More Gad Elmaleh is always a good thing in my books. :D

I'm kind of the same, but I'm also scared shitless. I'm like "WHAT IS THIS MOVIE??? WHAT DOES IT WANT FROM US??? TELL MEEEEE I DON'T UNDERSTAAAAND"

It looks like an impossibility. I still can't wrap my head around it, TBH. But yeah, at the beginning I didn't want to hear anything about it, and now I'm definitely interested; even f it's a trainwreck, it will be the biggest trainwreck of all time. O___O

I am twenty years old and I now have permanent forehead wrinkles and a crick in my neck thanks to this movie. Word to the wise: Unlike a Picasso, no combination of squinting, raising of eyebrows or tilting of the head to the side can make this anymore sensical. I am well and truly confused.

... the best in cinema are collaberating on TINTIN?! En anglais aussi? okay, there's been enough of a stink being raised about the language and I don't really care that much, but I can't help but wonder why this is being made while great musicals like 'Wicked' or 'Bare' aren't. Or if you're going to make a high budget Holywood film based on a French/Belgian comic series, why not try 'Thorgal'? Not as popular but a grittier story about a viking warrior who ends up being a humanoid alien , marries a Norse princess and has children with magical powers would make more sense with these people working on it... right?

I've gotten ahead of myself again, haven't I?
