pollums 's comment above sums it up pretty well too. Generally I don't look at pictures of him when I draw Sherlock, but I had to for the last fanart I did, because I wanted him smiling, and Benedict's smiles are based on non-euclidian geometry too. So, once again, I had to realize that when you add up all of Benedict's features, on paper it's a complete trainwreck, and when he smiles it gets even worse. What the actual fuck.

He ALMOST dwells in the uncanny valley. XD

I remember a fic somewhere where someone remarked that it looked like he was designed by a program for maximum attractiveness, and them someone said "what the hell" and dialed the slanted eyes and the cheekbones up a few notches.

I remember seeing him in "Amazing Grace" a few years ago, not knowing who he was or anything, and remarking to someone on his having the oddest looks, with eyes like a kitty cat. The parts shouldn't work together - he should be quite hideous - and yet, miraculously, he is lovely.

But he must be hell to draw.

And he IS hell to draw! As soon as you think you've figured it out, you try out a few expressions, like SMILING, and the result makes you go WTF IS THIS SHIT. Seriously I love looking at smiling pictures of him, and he IS adorable and lovely and mouth-wateringly sexy, but I can't understand the FUCKING PHYSICS of how his mouth twists to shape a smile! Seriously. And I completely agree with you, it shouldn't work, and yet it does, but there must be some magic trick to it, because it certainly can't be explained in a scientific way. *_____*

WORD. It's not just drawings that are hard. While of course there are lovely ones, a lot of still photos of him are also ... just useless. Friends who haven't seen Sherlock so don't get it and have suggested that I have bad taste in beautiful men. This is irksome.

I know, it's the same for me! You have to see him in Sherlock to realize how actually hot he is, but seriously, I can totally understand the people who tell me they don't get why I'm lusting after him, however frustrating it is to be told that I have weird tastes in men when I KNOW I'm NOT in the wrong! Benny, honey, you're making my social life awkward.

OH I LOVE THOSE STILLS, I wondered which scene and episode they were excerpted from and they're actually from the bonus features on the DVD, where someone is explaining something to Benedict, and suddenly he looks up to the person and it was like I was HIT IN THE CHEST by his handsomeness. My breathing *literally* stopped, I swear.
